Also you should no-longer get the "Error unable to login. Please retry" error, in other words once you type your correct username and password and click login, you'll be logged in on the first try. (It may look like a small bug, but it's something that should not be in any server software. RSCAngel is the only one who has fixed it, if I'm not mistaken it's even present in the original RSC).

Also killed quite a few "newb" bots with this update.

First off, I hope everyone had a wonderful time over the december festive period. RSCAngel would like to wish everyone a very happy (and slightly belated) new year!

Now, down to business! We feel we have reached the point where we have exhausted our usual advertising methods (moparscape, people googling for runescape classic). Therefore, we are going to be launching a huge advertising campaign. We shall soon be spending over 200GBP (320USD) on adverts in the forthcoming month.

We would appreciate it if everyone in the community can do their bit to help advertise us by placing this banner http://rscangel.org/banner/banner.gif or http://rscangel.org/banner/ - that our lovely banana obsessed Necroth has generously made for us, in their forum signatures/websites across the interwebs.

Pending the successful campaign, we'll continue to advertise monthly. Although 200GBP is a lot of money, it's not in advertising terms. So we hope you can do your bit to help us out by including http://rscangel.org/banner/banner.gif in your signature on various websites!

Forthcoming updates:


a) Batch events on the following actions: Fishing, Cooking, Woodcutting, Smelting, Vial refilling, Flax picking/spinning, Wool spinning.
   
    * If you're 59 fishing, you'll fish 5 times in a row, if you're 60 fishing you'll fish 6 times in a row.
    * This is just the start, we're trying to find the balance between making game-play easier, but still challenging.

b) F E N E X is the new "PR agent" for RSCAngel. He'll be put in charge of handling the suggestions board, basically keeping tabs on suggested/rejected suggestions and running new ones by us.
This means your voice will be heard more :)

c) A new (more stable) client has been released, without the error screen.

d) Quests. rsclassicftw has the following quests nearly completed, we shall begin testing them and releasing them into the live server soon:

    * Dragon slayer
    * Vampire slayer
    * Restlest ghost (done by Miku)
    * Demon slayer (still being worked on)

MERRY XMAS! Xmas events added! World drop at Edgeville, Falador, Varrock and Draynor! Xmas Quest at Black Knights Fortress!

a) New client
  * Full screen mode, resizeable, zoomable client, hopefully more MacOSX friendly now.
     * F2 to resize to the default screen size
     * Page up to zoom in
     * Page down to zoom out
     * Home to return to the default zoom
b) Range update
  * 40 prayer is no longer 100% protection from range. The percentage depends on your prayer level. Level 40 prayer means 60% protection from range, each level above level 40 adds an extra 0,6percent.
c) Amulet updates
  * Ruby and diamond amulets have the ability to teleport you the wilderness (castle and altar), but be careful! These cursed amulets skull you if you use them to teleport!

I also changed some things around server side, fixed the lag spike everyone got every 50 minutes. Hopefully I also fixed the memory leak also, but only time will tell that.

To update your client, just start the client updater.

When will all the activities start?

On the 26th December and on the 2nd of January. We understand that many of you will be spending Christmas with their family or friends, so we'll have our Christmas events on the 26th so you will not miss out on anything!

Same goes for New Years! Party on the 31st / 1st and simply logon on the 2nd of January to take part in our events.

What will we be doing?

We will be releasing two quests. The first quest was added to our previous server a year ago, but since a lot of you didn't play then we decided to reuse it.

The second quest was written especially for Xmas / New years, again by punkRocker.

We will also be having world drops for the following items: Candy Cane, Santa suit, Santa hat.

There haven't been any updates lately!

I know, it's been a very hectic month for me. I've had around 8 hours free to work on RSCA this week, so here's what is going to happen:

A new client

* Resizeable client with fullscreen functionality. Includes zoom in and out. Also shows off the Santa suit & Cane.

Prayer update.
  *  Protection from range will no-longer be 100%. If your prayer level is 40, then "Protection from arrows" will have a 60% success rate. With each prayer level you gain above 40 your success rate will go higher 0,6%. Hopefully this will balance out both low and high level PKing.

Amulet update.
  *  Ruby and Diamond amulets will have the ability to teleport their users into the wilderness. You can choose from Altar and Castle. These amulets are cursed though, who-ever uses them will get skulled!
    *  The amulets will not have to be recharged. Also you will not teleport to one specific spot, instead you'll teleport to an area (meaning you cannot be jumped by 5 people the second you use the amulet teleport)

Hi,

RSCAngel would like to keep you informed about our plans for Christmas. For those of you who were with us last year, we will be doing a repeat of that quest as we feel it was done very well, additionally those items are no longer in the game so we want to bring them back. We are also working on a mini-quest which we hope to have running for a week or two.

In addition to this, we will be doing the usual events, some drops and mage arena wars so make sure you're about!
